Client: Auckland Council
Morphum Environmental has undertaken watercourse assessment surveys, prepared watercourse management plans and delivered Watercourse Assessment Reports (WARs) for approximately 390 kilometres of watercourses in 39 catchments throughout Auckland.
The Watercourse Assessment Methodology (WAM), prepared by Morphum Environmental for Auckland Council, provides a tool for assessing stream health and associated values, threats and opportunities. In addition, it describeshow key stakeholders such as local residents and communities can actively play a role in stream enhancements.
Morphum Environmental has been instrumental in the development of a standard tool for data collection through the use of a standardised geodatabase for Auckland Council’s Watercourse Assessment Reports (WAR).
- Watercourse Assessment Reports (WAR) and geodatabases for the Otara, Lincoln and Swanson, Riverhead, Red Beach, Puhinui and Waimahia catchments.
- Geospatial data (GIS) collection using the WAM through cloud and mobile technology.
- Information regarding the stream ecological health, stormwater infrastructure and conveyance to inform effective management.
- Specific management actions and enhancement opportunities to improve watercourses, enhance degraded streams and remedy specific stormwater issues, while recognising future growth pressures in the catchment.
