As part of the 2015 NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards ceremony, held on Tuesday evening, finalists were asked to make a pledge for 2016 which reflects their ongoing commitment to sustainability. The Morphum Environmental directors, finalists in the Sustainability Champion category of the awards, have pledged to sponsor a student through the First Foundation scholarship programme.
First Foundation is a New Zealand based organisation which allows talented but financially disadvantaged youth to be sponsored through their university years by individuals or organisations. The programme was founded in 1998 by Steven Carden and has since offered 460 scholarships, with over 70 awarded in 2014 alone.
The four year programme will include paid work experience, financial support over the duration of the programme, advice and guidance from a mentor, and all necessary support to enable a successful transition from school, through university and on into to the workplace. Beginning with a year 13 student in 2016, the selected candidate will have a keen interest in environmental engineering, and will be looking to attend university in 2017.
Morphum Environmental will grant the scholar at least five weeks paid work experience each year, and ongoing support and development guidance from a range of staff.
