What is the role?
We are looking for a motivated and driven engineer with strengths in hydraulic modelling and design to join our Engineering Design Team. This team leads multi-disciplinary projects in three-waters and open space engineering. The role will include opportunities to manage interesting projects, undertake design tasks, and client delivery.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
Undertake environmental engineering research and design tasks including innovation, water sensitive design and development of sustainable infrastructure
Undertake site assessments
Undertake investigations and develop designs that are sustainable and that work in unison with the environment
Undertake calculations, modelling and risk analysis for engineering design
Develop high quality detailed design specifications
Provide assessments of environmental effects and resource consent reporting
Perform field work and contract management/site supervision duties as required
You will be involved throughout the life of projects from conceptual thinking right through to detailed design work and construction supervision. The point of difference with this role is the chance to be involved in a wide range of projects and make a real difference to the environment – no two days are the same.
To be the successful candidate you will have the following skills and attributes:
Minimum of Bachelor of Engineering (Civil or Environmental) or other recognised equivalent qualification
Minimum of 5 years professional experience
Experience in assessment, planning and design of three waters infrastructure
In-depth knowledge of engineering design scoping and investigation
Understanding and experience in the application of water sensitive design, catchment management and hydrology
Experience in hydraulic modelling software for design
Exceptional organisation and communication skills
Excellent report writing skills
Proven team player – able to work collaboratively with the Morphum team
You will be able to confidently envisage project outcomes and demonstrate this in your work delivery. Furthermore, working knowledge of Auckland Council GD01, GD04, Code of Practice (Section 4), and Watercare Code of Practice is critical for this role.
