What is the role?
An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated and driven environmental scientist with strengths in terrestrial and/or freshwater ecology to join our dynamic and sustainably focused team. The point of difference with this role is the chance to be involved in a wide range of interesting and multidisciplinary projects and make a real difference to the environment – no two days are the same.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
Undertaking ecological and environmental assessments and reporting on findings
Management of environmental data sets as required
Contract, project and financial management of projects
Working collaboratively within project teams
Supporting and developing client, supplier and subcontractor relationships
Being actively involved in business development
Increasing company capacity and institutional knowledge
To be the successful candidate you will have:
A Bachelor of Science and ideally 3+ years of experience (preferably in consulting)
Experience in New Zealand terrestrial and/or freshwater ecology, ecological impact assessments, data collection and analysis.
A network of contacts within the industry and be well respected within the industry
Excellent communication and report writing skills
The ability to integrate ecological goals with engineering and opportunity frameworks
The ability to identify and act on commercial leads
Additionally, you must have a real passion for sustainability and the environment. Experience in coastal and/or marine science, in community engagement and behaviour change and the New Zealand environmental legislative framework would be an advantage, as too would post graduate qualifications.
