Natural Hazards Portal for Northland

Client: Northland Regional Council

Northland’s geographic location means the region is prone to several natural hazards.

Northland Regional Council wanted to develop an all-inclusive information hub where the community and local authorities can access information about their risks to natural hazards.

The Northland region is susceptible to river flooding and coastal hazards including erosion and sea level rise. Morphum Environmental worked with Northland Regional Council to develop the regions natural hazards portal.

This web-hosted tool provides users with access to important natural hazard information. Resources available include the property hazard viewer, which shows all the potential natural hazards by individual property, and the introduction to hazards Story Map, both can be found in the hazard maps tile on the portal.

The portal is being used by property owners and prospective buyers to make informed decisions about the exposure to a natural hazard so risks can be managed and reduced.
