Fergus graduated from the University of Auckland in 2023 as a Master of Science where his thesis focused on potential co-evolutionary effects of moa on various endemic plant species. Before starting at Morphum he worked in ecological restoration, leading projects on sites throughout the North Island.

Fergus is passionate about strong environmental, sustainable, and cultural outcomes, aiming to support these through a keen interest in the holistic benefits healthy ecosystems can provide. His core interests are ecosystem services, threatened plant species, and terrestrial ecology.

When he's not in the office, Fergus can be found taking any opportunity to explore the many lakes and mountains of Aotearoa, whether it be by tramping, climbing, or botanising.
