Heather Best joined Morphum in 2023 as a graduate Environmental Scientist/Molecular Ecologist. She completed her BSc at Victoria University of Wellington majoring in Ecology & Biodiversity, Marine Biology and Cell & Molecular Bioscience followed by a BSc(Hons) first class majoring in Cell & Molecular Bioscience. She holds a PhD in Molecular Genetics from The University of Sydney and undertook postdoctoral research at Yale University and in France developing gene therapies for neuromuscular conditions.

Heather has made the shift back to environmental work which is more in line with her passion for the environment and working towards a sustainable future. Heather’s previous work in academic research gave her experience and competency in challenging the status quo, innovative project design, project management, liaising with stakeholders and scientific writing. She is excited to bring her diverse skillset to the Morphum Team and create positive environmental change.

Outside of work Heather likes to stay active and spend time outdoors running, biking, hiking or snowboarding and enjoys some downtime reading or trying new baking recipes.
