Morphum Environmental will help Government departments and Crown entities become carbon neutral thanks to our expertise in this area.

We are delighted to have been appointed a ‘key supplier’ for The Carbon Neutral Government Programme (CNGP) which requires the public sector to measure and reduce their emissions and become carbon neutral by 2025.

We have two decades of experience offering sustainability services to our clients (including central and local government organisations), and our 100% New Zealand-owned business has been certified carbon neutral for over 10 years.

Morphum’s Sustainability Consultant Laura Toulmin says sustainability is a core value that’s ingrained across our entire organisation. “We’ve been doing it for a long time and it’s not just because it’s a hot topic. It’s something that we deeply care about.”

As a CNGP supplier, Morphum can now partner with public sector organisations to identify, measure, verify and report their carbon emissions. We will then work alongside them to create a reduction plan and how to offset any remaining emissions from 2025 to achieve carbon neutrality.

“It’s really about having the right tools and knowing where to look,” Laura explains. “Our team is experienced when it comes to carbon auditing. We’re experts at preparing greenhouse gas accounting reports and assessing options for emissions reduction.”

Morphum’s role is to advise and facilitate the CNGP process. “We always encourage in-house ownership because clients are much more likely to take on a plan if they have helped build it. We want to work with public sector organisations to help them develop their own carbon neutral plan.”

Laura applauds the Government for showing leadership on climate change and setting a short timeframe for the public sector to act.

“It’s positive progress for New Zealand and sets a good example for the rest of New Zealand to follow. Between the public sector organisations under CNGP and NZX organisations increasing reporting on their emissions and sustainability progress, it’s leading a new standard of transparency and accountability for New Zealand business. It’s only going to become more and more common.”
