Dean joined the Wellington team in 2025 after completing their Masters in Civil Engineering (water). A passion for ecological engineering solutions and evidence based best practice led them to work at Morphum.
Dean’s studies have help facilitate their interest in stormwater management and water sensitive urban design (WSUD). Primarily this has focussed on stormwater impact assessments, integrated catchment management, and the design of stormwater assets. Additionally, they are interested in applying their knowledge of modelling, including fluid mechanics, fluvial and pluvial flooding, and machine learning models.
Prior to entering the workforce, Dean was heavily engaged in volunteering and youth advocacy. Being elected as an executive member of the Christchurch Youth Council and organising civics education events at a local and national level with UN Youth. This is echoed by their interest in humanitarian engineering, specifically community consultation, disaster response, and developing resilient local water supplies.
Outside of work Dean continues to volunteer with UN Youth and enjoys sport – especially judo and ultimate frisbee, reading and video games.
