Max joined the Morphum Science tīma in October 2025. He holds a First-Class Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Geography & Environmental Science and has supported this academic expertise with a breadth of experience working within the environmental sector in Aotearoa, Australia and the UK.
In Aotearoa, Max has worked with Greater Wellington Regional Council undertaking biosecurity inspections and also designing and facilitating an incident management control-post exercise for their flood response team.
In Australia, he has been involved in freshwater monitoring in the Daintree River and worked on a native seed production project in Western Australia's remote wheatbelt to supply carbon offset projects, focusing on nursery management, soil preparation and genetic diversity.
In collaboration with the UK Environment Agency, he coordinated asset inspections under its collaborative national flood recovery framework in response to Storm Christoph in 2021, improving proactive resilience and updating working practices for the future. Furthermore, he also worked in the sustainability analysis sector, providing data aggregation services to national infrastructure clients on lifecycle carbon analysis and creating a geospatial climate resilience assessment for the West Midlands Combined Authority.
Max has jumped in the waka across a range of science projects with Morphum to support evidence-based water and ecological management across Aotearoa. He has recently been involved in rapid terrestrial and freshwater habitat assessments across multiple forestry projects across the lower North Island, outlining management and enhancement strategies to harness co-existing areas of high conservation value.
Outside of work, Max likes to keep himself busy with various outdoor activities, whether that's his garden restoration project, mountain biking, tramping or skiing, he's always up for an adventure
