WATER ASSET INVESTIGATION & REMEDIATION

An illustration of stormwater and wastewater critical networks being designed and constructed by Morphum Environmental civil and three waters engineers
When a water supply, wastewater or stormwater asset fails, we trace the cause, design the fix and ensure that it's built to last.

With over 25 years of three waters engineering, we're ready to support your region with critical infrastructure projects.

DIAGNOSE ISSUES AND DESIGN LASTING FIXES

Our Services ▸
When a pipe fails, a pump station stops, or a slip takes out a section of network, the first job is finding out why and what to do about it.

Our infrastructure engineers investigate the failure, design the remediation and support construction, so the fix holds and the record behind it stands up to scrutiny.

We’ve completed projects on sites where the network runs through urban areas, natural spaces, waterways, as part of emergency works, and under time pressure without cutting corners on the outcome or the environment.

OUR SERVICES

Rapid SITE RESPONSE

We collect asset data, run inspections and engineeringsurveys, and assess the condition of your water assets, so you know what toupgrade or renew first.

TRACE AND DIAGNOSE

Our engineers will investigate the asset, surrounding area and the connected network to find the root cause of the failure, depending on what the situation requires.

WHY MORPHUM?

EMERGENCY RESPONSE

Morphum's team are experienced and ready to support flood and emergency works. Our flood and engineering consultants focus on providing resilient designs that solve the immediate issues and prepare the network for the future.

ENGINEERING & ECOLOGY

Where a failure touches a sensitive environment, our science team can prepare ecological impact assessments (EcIAs) and more environmental monitoring as required, alongside the engineering support.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can Morphum respond to emergency asset failures and flood damage?

+

Definitely, yes. Our engineering team is resourced and ready to design the fix, and supervise the repair when assets fail between programmed renewals, including during flood and emergency works. Our designs solve the immediate problem and prepare the network for the future and we’ve delivered emergency works under time pressure in urban areas, natural spaces and waterways.

What happens if the failure is in or near a stream, wetland or othersensitive environment?

+

Our ecologists and engineers work on the same project, so environmental considerations shape the remediation design from the start. Where a failure touches a sensitive environment, our science team can prepare ecological impact assessments (EcIAs) and carry out environmental monitoring alongside the engineering support to meet any consenting requirements. We'll also let you know early if the location or scale of the works is likely to need consents.

Does Morphum work only on environmental projects or other water networkissues as well?

+

We’ve been working on hard stormwater and wastewater network designs since the business began more than 25 years ago. Whether you need environmental specialisation or three waters engineering solutions for assets like pipes and pump stations, our team is ready to support.

Does Morphum carry out the physical repair?

+

We design the remediation and supervise construction while the contractor builds it. On-site supervision means the repair is built as designed, and site queries can get an engineering answer quickly.

How long will an investigation take and what will it cost?

+

Both depend on the type of asset, how easy it is to access, how much of the connected network needs assessing and whether ecological work is involved. Once we understand the situation we can give you a scope, fee and timeframe. A location, a description of what has happened and any photos help us get there faster, as do existing asset records, repair history and CCTV inspection footage if you have them.

What do we receive at the end of an investigation?

+

You receive our findings on what failed and why, along with a recommended remediation. If you want us to carry on into design, we prepare the remediation design, which can include specifications and tender documentation ready to go to market. The record of the investigation is written to stand up to scrutiny from asset owners, funders and auditors.

Does Morphum work on planned asset upgrades and renewals?

+

Yes, while our team conducts investigations into failing assets, we are also a part of longer-term asset upgrades and renewals programmes, including the decade-long Watercare AUR programme. Many clients will use both, as we our understanding of regional networks and local priorities from renewal programmes can help us with our investigations and remediations when required.
